Using nature to produce power

Powering the future, with renewable energy

As part of our long-term commitment to responsible farming, we have invested in renewable energy technologies across the business. From solar panels to wind turbines to air source heat pumps.

We are working to reduce our carbon footprint by making use of natural resources available to us across the farm.

Solar

JSR first installed solar panels in 2014 to power our offices, farmhouse and cookery school as well as a number of our farm buildings.

We currently generate c. 224 KW of electricity, using approximately 70% and exporting the remaining 30% back to the National Grid.

Wind Turbines

Our 80kW turbines, affectionately named Pinky and Perky, at our Decoy Farm produce 80% of the electricity requirements for all operations at that site.

Air source heat pumps

In 2025 we installed eight state-of-the-art air source heat pumps to power our glamping cabins and hot tubs at our Wold Escapes site.

These air source heat pumps are far more energy efficient than traditional heating methods, typically using one third of the electricity than the previous system, shrinking our carbon footprint whilst gaining the benefit from a reliable energy source.
