Since JSR Farms was founded in 1958 by John Sykes Rymer, it has been farmed using the green circle ethos. We produce high quality food with our dedicated team delivering excellence in farming whilst respecting and working with our local environment and community.

Arable Farming

Arable farming is at the heart of JSR's fully integrated approach. We grow high-quality wheat, barley, and rye as feed for animals, whilst also providing straw for bedding. In return, nutrient-rich manure and slurry from the livestock are spread back onto the land, helping to maintain healthy soils and reduce the need for artificial fertilisers.

This circular farming approach not only enhances crop yields but also demonstrates our commitment to responsible, regenerative farming. Put simply it just makes sense to put back onto the land what's been taken out and use the natural resources available to benefit both our business and the environment.

Mill & Mix

JSR’s mill and mix operation is a key part of our fully integrated farming system, allowing us to produce high-quality, home-milled feed tailored specifically to the needs of our and other livestock.

By using our own cereals grown on JSR farms, we maintain complete control over feed quality, traceability, and nutritional balance. This not only supports animal health and performance but also reduces our reliance on bought-in feed and minimises transport miles.
