Stoneground, the biography of the late John Rymer who founded the JSR Farming Group, has been published to mark the 50th anniversary of the company.
Twelve years in the making, the book has been compiled by rural commentator Mark Keeble using a manuscript written by John Rymer who always intended to use his Omnium Gatherum to publish a book for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the future .
Mr Rymer's son and JSR chairman Tim Rymer said: "My father wrote a manuscript and wanted to produce a book but not until the year 2030.
"We thought the solution to this was to get somebody to write the biography and keep the manuscript for when he wanted it to be published for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
The biography charts the life and times of John Rymer the farmer, poet, philosopher and painter, and tells the story of how the business was built around pigs, peas and potatoes.
Stoneground was launched this week at the Great Yorkshire Show and copies will be handed out to current employees and associates of the JSR Farming Group.
